How did you get into gymnastics?
I have two older sisters, they both used to do gymnastics at the nearby leisure centre. My parents took me for a session when I was 5 years old and was instantly chosen to be a part of the boy’s squad there, I have continued to do and love gymnastics ever since.
How are you have you been coping with the lockdowns?
I coped reasonably well, mainly by doing training sessions, 6 times a week in my back garden and living room with some equipment that I was lent by my gym (I had a low pommel horse that I was using a set of weights). I trained over “Zoom” with my club training partners to help me stay motivated.

What motivates you to train and compete at the elite level in sport?

Do you have an athlete role model who inspired you?
I have many, including, Sam Oldham who is an Olympic bronze medalist in 2012. Sam is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever had the pleasure to trained alongside. Jonathon Horton an Olympic silver medalist in 2008, in Men’s gymnastics from the USA, for his determination and work ethic when the odds were stacked against him and his ability to overcome injury. Joe Fraser, who is a World Champion gymnast on the parallel bars in 2019. I am lucky enough to be one of his training partners and witness his fearlessness, commitment and work ethic firsthand.
